Non-Stick bipolar forceps - how do they work?
SILVERGlide® is a special material that reduces the molecular bonding force and prevents excessive heat development at the tips of the forceps. Since it is a special material and not a coating, it will not be worn by use. Laboratory tests have shown that the non-stick qualities are as good after 50 uses as they are after the first use. The main advantage of SILVERGlide® is that tissue will simply not stick to the forceps tips allowing the surgeon to work uninterruptedly without the frustration of having to clean the forceps.
What are the benefits of the non-stick SILVERGlide® forceps?
The non-stick qualities of SILVERGlide® permit safer, faster and more precise surgeries with fewer interruptions. All these advantages combined result in considerable time-saving during surgery. Non-stick also puts an end to the frustration of cauterized vessels tearing open again. With SILVERGlide® tissue will no longer stick to the forceps tips and threaten to reopen sealed vessels.
Time-saving in the OR is tantamount to cost-saving during routine interventions and time-gain for more sophisticated OR activities. Time-saving in the OR also implies less strain on the patient thanks to shorter anaesthesia times. Instruments that stay clean involve less work in cleaning during and after the intervention. Instruments should not be cleaned with aggressive or abrasive cleaners. They are under less mechanical strain during the cleaning process and will thus have a longer life-cycle. SILVERGlide® forceps lower investment costs because they can be used with all commonly used electrosurgical units. This implies that they can be easily implemented in the surgical routine and that there is no need to get accustomed to new devices.
